Bavaria & The Tyrol
Southern Bavaria and the adjoining Austrian Tyrol are renowned for the natural beauty of their countryside, lakes and mountains, their fine palaces and gardens, and perhaps above all, for their magnificent baroque churches.
This portfolio and the next (Bavaria Infra-Red) illustrate each of these topics. The next portfolio shows a different perspective on the countryside, lakes, palace gardens and churches through the drama that infra-red can provide.
In this portfolio the interiors of the baroque churches are explored -- justly famous for the richness of their decoration, especially in ornate altar pieces and painted ceilings, my objective here was to show a different perspective looking at simpler, elegant elements of their interiors and, in particular, doors and their fittings rubbed by thousands of worshipers over the years.
